I believe that a layer of carpeting is suggested as a barrier between the soil and the rubber liners used to build fish ponds. It prevents hidden rocks that mitrate to the surface of the soil from damaging the rubber liner. If thehomeowner is not considering adding aup fish pond companies that specialize in creating water features might pick up the old carpet for use in their future work.

Lumber Liquidators

Hey Amy, I have heard of that but I'm not positive. I did see that laying carpet over soil could help prevent weeds! It may just depend on the type of carpet you have. Thanks for your inquiry!

Amy

Can you use shredded carpet for garden mulch?
